Ashington’s Christmas Lights Switch-On & Market will take place on Thursday 29 November.
The family event is planned to run from 1pm till 7pm on the main section of Station Road. The event will include musical performances, children’s fairground rides, face painting and costumed characters with a promise from Father Christmas to visit Ashington as part of his very busy Christmas schedule! A Christmas themed market will also take place and include a wide range of stalls including foods, crafts and gifts.
The Town Council works closely with local schools to provide an annual competition for Ashington schoolchildren to design new Christmas lighting features for the town and this will take place again this year. Last year the successful entrants joined BBC personality Colin Briggs in leading the Official Switch-On (pictured).
The event is been organised by Ashington Town Council with support from its partners including Northumberland YMCA, Northern Funfairs, Bad Apples North East and local schools.
Keep an eye on the Town Council website in the run up to the event!
