Ashington Town Council is pleased to announce that the popular gardens competition is to take place again this year.
Business Chair of the Town Council, Cllr. Mark Purvis, said ‘Following the success of the Ashington Garden's Competition in recent years it was decided that it should go ahead again in 2019. The Garden Competition celebrates and recognises the excellent gardening work undertaken by many residents of our town'.
Town Clerk, Mike Slaughter, adds ‘Since the Town Council reintroduced the competition it has generated a real interest within the community to maintain and enhance the environment and we are hopeful that more residents will take part in 2019’.
The competition is open to all Ashington residents with six categories for entries as follows: Large Garden; Small Garden; Disabled Person’s Garden; Senior Citizen’s Garden; Allotment Garden; Commercial Property & Public House.
The Town Council is delighted that the Wansbeck Garden Centre & Café, based on North Seaton Industrial Estate, is again supporting the Competition.
The 2019 Competition is now launched with all entries to arrive to the Town Council by the closing date of Friday 21 June 2019. Judging will take place during July and a special ‘Awards Evening’ will be held in September, when the winners will be announced and presented with their trophies and prizes.
Application forms can be downloaded below and paper copies are also available from the Town Hall and from Northumberland County Council offices at Wansbeck Square as well as Wansbeck Garden Centre & Cafe.
