Ashington Town Council is pleased to announce that the popular gardens competition is to take place again this year and is now open for entries.
Business Chair of the Town Council, Cllr. Mark Purvis said ‘Following the success of the Ashington Gardens Competition in recent years Ashington Town Council is delighted to announce it will go ahead again this year in its traditional format, Covid-19 dependent. The Competition has proved popular with residents of Ashington and helps to celebrate and recognise the excellent gardening work undertaken in our town’.
Town Clerk, Mike Slaughter, adds ‘Since the Town Council reintroduced the competition it has generated a real interest within the community to maintain and enhance the environment and we are hopeful that more residents will take part in 2021’.
There are six categories for entries, Large Garden; Small Garden; Disabled Person’s Garden; Senior Citizen’s Garden; Allotment Garden; Commercial Property & Public House.
Wansbeck Garden Centre & Café, based on North Seaton Industrial Estate, is again supporting the Competition.
The 2021 Competition is now launched with all entries to be submitted to the Town Council by the closing date of Friday 25 June 2021. Judging will take place during late July and a special ‘Awards Evening’ will be held in September (Covid-19 restrictions dependent), when the winners will be announced and presented with their trophies and prizes.
Application forms can be downloaded below, and paper copies are also available from the Wansbeck Garden Centre & Cafe. Alternatively, you can ring 01670 624 520 to have a paper copy of the entry form posted out to you.
