Ashington will remember the 75th Anniversary of D-Day as well as bringing to mind those who currently serve in the Armed Forces at an event on Thursday 6 June.

A Service will take place at the Ashington Memorial Garden, on Kenilworth Road (NE63 8AB), commencing at 10.30am.

The Service has been organised by the Ashington Branch of the Royal British Legion, supported by Ashington Town Council, and will be led by Reverend Michael Hedley, from Ashington's Word of Life Wesleyan Reform Church.

The Service will recognise those from the town who took part in the D-Day landings and show support to those current Armed Force personnel and their families who make many sacrifices in serving their country.
