A national Powerlifting Championship will take place in Ashington from Wednesday 30 October till Sunday 3 November.
The British Powerlifting Championship (Junior & Sub/Junior) for young people, aged 14-23, will take place at the Hirst Welfare Centre on Alexandra Road.
The event has been organised by the Parkhead & Wansbeck Powersports Group. The group provide regular activities for able and those with disabilities at the Centre. Activities are based around the excellent gym facilities, with the group having approximately 1,000 members.
Parkhead & Wansbeck Powersports have organised a number of events of this nature, in Ashington, bringing significant numbers of competitors and their families to the town in recent years.
This event will attract over 250 competitors from across the UK and has has been organised by the young people within the organisation with the aim of developing their skills and expertise.
It promises to be a great event for Ashington with some of the strongest people in the UK being in the town…more details will be provided in the run up to the event. Activities will start at 10.00am.
The event has been supported by a number of organisations including Ashington Town Council, Active Northumberland and Northumberland County Council.
