TO FREEDOM'S CAUSE

20 Jun, ASHINGTON MINERS INSTITUTE

To Freedom's Cause (The Lawless Lassie) by Kate Willoughby, will be visiting Ashington in June. The thought provoking, funny and brutal new play about suffragette Emily Wilding Davison will tour various venues around the UK. The play's focus is on the months leading up to and the long lasting effects of her tragic decision to step onto the Epsom Derby racecourse in front of the King's horse. This is the powerful story of some of the people who came into contact with Emily, who changed her life and whose lives she changed. Her belief in 'deeds not words' to draw attention to the cause of women's rights still resonates today. The play will take place at Ashington Miners Institute on Thursday 20th June 2013 commencing at 7pm. The play will also be visiting Newbiggin Maritme Centre on Saturday 22nd June. Tickets are priced at £5 and £3 for concessions. Tickets can be obtained by calling: 01434 652 477 or visiting the website: www.emilyinspires.co.uk
