Local Elections Coming to Northumberland on 1st May 2025

Local elections will be held across Northumberland on Thursday 1st May 2025. These elections represent an important opportunity for residents to participate in local democracy, either by standing as candidates or by casting their votes.

Key Dates to Remember
For Voters:
- Register to vote deadline: Monday 15th April 2025 (midnight)
- Postal vote application deadline: Tuesday 16th April 2025 (5pm)
- Proxy vote application deadline: Wednesday 23rd April 2025 (5pm)
- Election Day: Thursday 1st May 2025 (polling stations open 7am - 10pm)
For Candidates:
- Nomination forms available from: 3rd March 2025
- Notice of Election published: 20th March 2025
- Nomination submission period: 21st March – 2nd April 2025
Voter ID Requirement
Remember that you must bring photo ID to vote at a polling station. If you don't have an acceptable form of ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate through the government website.
