Ashington Town Council announces Free Easter Activities

Ashington Town Council is delighted to announce an exciting line-up of events and activities for residents during the Easter half-term break, offering families a variety of free and environmentally friendly ways to enjoy the holiday period.
ECO FAIR HEADLINES HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
The main event of the holiday program is Ashington's first-ever ECO Fair, taking place on Friday, 25th April from 10am to 3pm at the Ashington Hirst Welfare Centre. This inaugural event will showcase local environmental initiatives, sustainable products, and practical information on reducing carbon footprints.
Visitors to the ECO Fair can explore a Climate Change Showcase featuring innovative local projects, hear from expert guest speakers including Dr. Wendy Fail from Northumberland County Council, join a workshop with renowned environmental artist James Brunt, browse a local produce market, and learn about water and energy conservation techniques and try out some FREE activities.
The ECO Fair aims to inspire and empower residents to adopt more sustainable practices while providing an engaging day out for families.

FREE SWIMMING SESSIONS
As part of its commitment to promoting healthy activities, Ashington Town Council continues to fund its popular free-swimming initiative at Ashington Leisure Centre during the Easter holidays. Free swim sessions will be available on Wednesday 16th, Saturday 19th, Wednesday 23rd, and Saturday 26th April, from 1pm to 2pm.
The initiative offers 80 slots per session on a first-come, first-served basis, encouraging children to become "the next generation of Olympian" by learning to swim or developing their existing skills. No booking is required – residents simply need to turn up to the Leisure Centre on Lintonville Terrace to claim their free swim. Check out our new promotional free swim video taken during the February half term holiday.
BUNNY HOP EASTER EGG HUNT
From Saturday 12th to Friday 25th April, children can participate in the "Bunny Hop Easter Egg Hunt" involving 25 shops on Station Road. This community-wide activity encourages families to visit local businesses while collecting stickers along the way.
Those who collect all the stickers can claim a FREE Easter Egg and get a certificate from the Hirst Welfare Centre on Friday 25th April – perfectly timed to coincide with the ECO Fair, creating a day of double excitement for local families.
You can see a list of all the participating stores here on our events page.
