Ashington Town Council Celebrates Another Successful Year of the Great British Spring Clean

Ashington Town Council is thrilled to announce another successful year of the Great British Spring Clean—a campaign that has brought our community together for over 15 years. This year, our resolute commitment to a cleaner, greener Ashington has shone through thanks to the tireless efforts of our dedicated officers, volunteers, and community partners.
Community Action: The Ashington Community Litter Pickers
A standout highlight of this year’s initiative is the remarkable achievement of the Ashington Community Litter Pickers. To date, they have collected 1,280 bags of litter—an impressive average of 14 bags per day in 2025. Their relentless efforts not only demonstrate their passion for keeping our town clean but also serve as a rallying call to others. The Community Litter Pickers are always looking for new members to join their ranks, inviting all residents who share a love for Ashington to get involved and make a difference.

Partnerships That Make a Difference
Our success is amplified by the collaborative spirit of our key partners. We extend our heartfelt thanks to:
Their support, along with the constant encouragement from our local community, has played a pivotal role in the sustained success of our clean-up efforts.
Events at People’s Park and Riverside Park
This year, the Council also hosted dynamic clean-up events at People’s Park and Riverside Park. These events were beautifully documented in a video by Luk-Luk Productions on YouTube. The video captures the energy, enthusiasm, and camaraderie of our volunteers, offering a glimpse into the transformative power of collective action.
Empowering Our Volunteers with the Right Tools
In our commitment to fostering a proactive approach towards environmental stewardship, Ashington Town Council continues to offer litter picking equipment on loan. In collaboration with NCC Highways, this initiative ensures that all volunteers have access to the necessary resources, making every clean-up event more effective and efficient.
