Ashington Town Council had contested elections in five out of six wards, all very recently announced. County Councillor seats were announced in the early hours of Friday morning.

First and foremost, we must express our sincere gratitude to all Councillors who have served our community over the previous term but who will not be returning. Their dedication, commitment, and service to Ashington and its residents have been invaluable. The time and energy devoted to improving our town is very much appreciated, and their contributions will without doubt have a lasting impact on our community.
To those Councillors who have been successfully re-elected, congratulations. To our newly elected Councillors we would also like to extend a warm welcome. Over the next few months we will navigate change and challenge together.
We would also like to acknowledge all candidates who put themselves forward but were not elected on this occasion. Their willingness to stand for election and serve their community demonstrates tremendous civic responsibility and commitment. The democratic process thrives on engaged citizens who are prepared to step forward, and participation is invaluable to that process. There are many ways to stay involved in local affairs and we hope you continue.
Finally, on behalf of Ashington Town Council, we acknowledge the exceptional work of the Elections Team at Northumberland County Council. The smooth running of our local democracy depends on their hard work, particularly during this busy election period.
All new and returning Councillors will be invited along to the Town Council offices and will be required to sign their Acceptance of Office prior to our Annual Meeting of the Council, which will take place on 20th May 2025. This meeting will mark the first formal gathering of our new Town Council, and we look forward to working together to serve the people of Ashington.
