ASHINGTON TOWN COUNCIL PRESENTS THE ANNUAL COMMUNITY FAIR DAY AND "POWERING THE FUTURE" PARADE
Ashington Town Council is delighted to announce the return of the highly anticipated Ashington Community Fair Day, set to take place on Sunday, 6th July 2025 at People's Park, Institute Road. This annual tradition will run from 11 AM to 4 PM, offering FREE entry for all visitors.
This year's event features the exciting "Powering the Future" parade as a special highlight, which will include a full-size replica of Stephenson's Rocket traveling from Station Road to People's Park- delivered by Walk the Plank as part of the Animating Ashington programme of events.
Commissioned by Northumberland County Council and delivered by Walk the Plank, Animating Ashington is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the North East Combined Authority with the North East Combined Authority as the lead authority. It is part of the Regenerating Ashington Programme to grow, renew and connect the town.
"The Community Fair Day has become a cornerstone of Ashington's summer calendar," said Cllr Mark Purvis, Business Chair of Ashington Town Council. "We're particularly excited about this year's parade theme, which celebrates our region's rich industrial heritage while looking toward the future."
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Fairground rides from Richardson’s Amusements Ltd offering thrills for all ages
- Live music performances throughout the day from Local Heroes, S.K.X Funkanauts, The Pretty Weeds and more
- Children's activities designed to entertain and inspire
- Market stalls featuring local artisans, businesses and community groups
- Food vendors serving a variety of delicious, tasty treats
- The special "Powering the Future" parade featuring Stephenson's Rocket replica
The Community Fair Day provides an ideal opportunity for families, friends, and neighbours to come together and celebrate Ashington's vibrant community spirit in the beautiful setting of People's Park.
