Ashington Celebrates a Spectacular Annual Garden Vegetable Show
North Seaton Colliery Community Centre, 16th August 2025 – The Garden Vegetable Society working alongside Seaton Hirst Allotment Association came together on Saturday 16th August to showcase the very best of local horticultural talent at the Annual Garden Vegetable Society Show hosted at the North Seaton Community Centre.
From enormous onions tipping the scales at over 4lb 8ozs to prize-winning leeks, the quality of the produce was exceptional. Visitors also enjoyed a delightful array of homemade cakes, quiches, and scones in the judging area, while the crafting section added a creative touch to the event.
Civic Head Cllr Pauline Thompson said "This is such a good start for year one, already plans are being made for next year making it a much bigger occasion. I’m looking forward to seeing next years Leek Show. Well done and congratulations to everyone for such a stunning display."
This inaugural event has set a high standard, and organisers are already planning for next year’s show to make it an even bigger celebration of local growing talent. Congratulations to all participants for a stunning display and a successful start to what promises to become a cherished annual tradition.
