Ashington to be Represented at North East Field of Remembrance

Ashington Town Council is proud to announce its participation in the North East Field of Remembrance, following an invitation from Malcolm Barnes, County Chairman of the Northumbria Royal British Legion earlier in the year.
Mr Barnes has called upon Armed Forces Champions across the North East to encourage their council areas to contribute to this significant memorial, asking communities to create remembrance tributes that will put their towns and villages "on the map."
Community Collaboration Creates Beautiful Tribute
Ashington Town Council has worked in partnership with Ashington Women's Institute and the RBL Ashington Branch to create a stunning poppy wreath that will represent our town at this important event.
The project has been coordinated by Sharon Parmley, Engagement and Events Officer at Ashington Town Council, with the wreath frame built by Mark Air, Neighbourhood Services Officer. Members of Ashington Women's Institute have lovingly knitted and added poppies to the frame, donating their time and materials by members and friends, demonstrating the true spirit of community collaboration.
