A Warmer Welcome to Ashington

Ashington Town Council is delighted to share the success of a recent in-house improvement project carried out by Mark Air and Ryan Appleby, at the gateway bed on the Woodhorn approach into town.
This particular site has always been one of the more difficult beds to maintain and keep looking its best. Recognising the challenges, Mark and Ryan took the initiative to redesign the area, incorporating a small wall to reshape the bed and make it more attractive and sustainable. The results speak for themselves, and the project has already drawn great feedback from residents, who have noticed and appreciated the improvement to this key entrance point to Ashington.
This project shows the real value of having a capable and committed in-house team. Mark and Ryan recognised the issue, came up with a solution, and delivered it to a high standard, reflecting the Council’s ongoing commitment to improving Ashington through small, thoughtful projects across the town.
Further planting will take place in the spring to complete the new design, but residents can expect to see bulbs beginning to sprout in the meantime, adding some early colour to the area.
Ashington Town Council continues to invest in its in-house team and in practical local improvements that enhance the town’s appearance and community pride.
