Ashington to Debut Spectacular Light Projections Across Town Centre This November through December

Ashington is set to illuminate the festive season in spectacular fashion, as Ashington Town Council unveils an exciting partnership with renowned lighting specialists Blachere Illuminations to bring cutting-edge digital projections to four prominent locations across the town, alongside an expanded Christmas lights display.
Honouring Remembrance with Beautiful Tribute
From Monday 3rd November, those out after dark will be the first to witness a stunning transformation as iconic buildings across Ashington become canvases for dynamic visual displays. In a moving tribute to mark Remembrance weekend, the new projections will initially showcase poppy-themed imagery at the Leisure Centre, Ashington Town Hall, the gable end over the Bridge on Station Road, and the old Co-Op building, honouring those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.
These eye-catching projections are designed to captivate residents and visitors alike, providing a powerful and respectful commemoration visible throughout the town centre during this important period of reflection.
Transition to Christmas Magic
Then, on 13th November, coinciding with the town's Christmas lights switch-on, the displays will transition into magical Christmas scenes that will bring festive cheer throughout the holiday season.
Extended Festive Illuminations Across the Town
This year's Christmas celebrations will shine brighter than ever, with the traditional festive lights expanding their reach throughout Ashington. For the first time, the illuminations will extend down Lintonville Terrace and throughout the bus station, creating a continuous trail of festive sparkle that will welcome commuters, shoppers, and visitors arriving in the town centre. This significant expansion ensures that more of Ashington's community will experience the magic of the season, transforming key transport hubs and thoroughfares into beautiful displays.
A Year-Round Visual Asset
But this isn't just a Christmas initiative. The partnership with Blachere Illuminations represents a long-term investment in Ashington's visual identity, with the projection systems remaining in place year-round. This innovative approach means the town can adapt its displays for various events, celebrations, and community moments throughout the calendar.
Bringing the Community Together
The collaboration marks a significant step forward in enhancing Ashington's town centre experience, creating memorable moments and photo opportunities for families and visitors. The projections promise to transform familiar landmarks into dynamic attractions, while the extended lighting display will create a welcoming atmosphere throughout the heart of the town. Together, these initiatives reinforce Ashington's position as a forward-thinking community that embraces both tradition and innovation.
Residents are encouraged to experience the displays after dark, when the projections and lights will be at their most striking, and to share their photos and reactions on social media.
The Christmas projections and extended lighting display will run throughout the festive period, with plans already underway to showcase different projection themes as the year progresses.
