Hirst Ward By-Election Result, 18th December 2025

Following the Hirst Ward By-Election held on Thursday 18th December, Ashington Town Council is pleased to share the official Declaration of Result, with Jessica Appleby and Melanie Fox duly elected to serve as Town Councillors for Hirst Ward.
Seven candidates stood for election:
- Jessica Appleby (Reform UK) 157 votes ELECTED
- Melanie Tuesday Fox (Labour Party) 180 votes ELECTED
- Andy McGregor (Liberal Democrats) 80 votes
- Michelle Suzette Roberts (Reform UK) 142 votes
- Sophie Willamina Robinson (Independent) 48 votes
- Carla Louise Thompson (Independent) 76 votes
- Graeme Wright (Labour Party) 154 votes
The turnout was 13.52%
The Council extends its warmest congratulations to Jessica and Melanie. Declarations of acceptance of office will be signed in the New Year, and they will join the Council for the first meeting in 2026 on Tuesday 13th January.
