Ashington Town Council Celebrates Local Groups and Organisations
With New Grant Fund Films Showcasing Community, Sports and Youth Beneficiaries
Ashington Town Council is proud to announce the release of three short films celebrating the incredible local groups and organisations that have received grant funding through its Annual Grant and Small Grant programmes in 2025–2026. Produced by the talented team at Luk Luk Productions, these films shine a deserved spotlight on the vital work being carried out across the town, and the positive difference that Council funding is making to the lives of residents.
About the Films
The three films — covering Community Groups, Sports Groups, and Youth Groups — each tell the story of the organisations behind the funding applications, bringing to life the passion, dedication and community spirit that defines Ashington.
Film 1: Community Groups & Organisations
This film highlights the remarkable community organisations that received Annual Grant funding in 2025–2026, including the Ashington and District Male Voice Choir, Citizens Advice Northumberland, ESCAPE Family Support, Full Circle Food Project, North Seaton Colliery Community Centre, Northumberland County of Santuary (NCOS), Repurposeful CIC, Woodhorn Narrow Gauge Railway, and Wansbeck Valley Foodbank. Together, these groups received a combined total of £40,550 — funding that has gone directly into supporting the wellbeing, heritage, and social fabric of the local community.
Film 2: Sports Groups
Sport plays a central role in bringing people together, and this film celebrates the clubs and organisations keeping Ashington active. Annual Grant recipients featured include Ashington Association Football Club, Ashington Cricket Club, Ashington Hirst Running Club, Ashington Joint Welfare Rugby Club, Cambois Rowing Club, and Wansbeck Paddle Sports Club. From grassroots football to rowing and rugby, these clubs are the beating heart of sport in the local area. The total sum of grants received in 2025/26 was £25,794.
Film 3: Youth Groups
Investing in young people is investing in the future of Ashington. This film features the inspiring Annual Grant recipients who received a combined funding of just over £18k. Additionally, some of our Small Grant recipients. All these groups work tirelessly to provide opportunities, support and safe spaces for children and young people across the town. Beneficiaries include Ability2Play, Ashington Town Football Club, First 4 Darts, Mortal Fools, YMCA Northumberland, 1st Hirst Scout Group, 5th Ashington Brownies, Junior Park Run, and Koast Radio. Each of these groups is making a real and lasting difference to the young people of Ashington.

Applications for the 2026–2027 Annual Grant opportunities is open now, with small grants opening next week (5th May). If your group or organisation is based in Ashington and is making a difference to the local community, we want to hear from you.
