FREE SUMMER SWIMS RETURN TO ASHINGTON LEISURE CENTRE

Ashington Town Council is once again funding free swimming sessions at Ashington Leisure Centre throughout the summer holidays, giving local families a fun, safe and cost-free way to enjoy the school break.
The popular free swim initiative returns from Wednesday 22 July to Saturday 29 August 2026, with two sessions running every week:
- Every Wednesday, 1:00pm to 2:00pm
- Every Saturday, 2:30pm to 3:30pm
There is no need to book – simply turn up at Ashington Leisure Centre to claim a free swim. Eighty slots are available at each session, allocated on a first come, first served basis, so swimmers are encouraged to arrive in good time.
The sessions are delivered in partnership with Places Leisure and continue the Town Council's commitment to supporting the health, wellbeing and enjoyment of Ashington's residents. With the cost of school holiday activities adding up quickly for many families, the free swims offer a brilliant way to keep active, cool off and have fun – completely free of charge.
Whether you are learning to swim for the first time or looking to take your swimming to the next level, the pool is the perfect place to build confidence and skills in a safe, supervised environment – and who knows, we might just be inspiring the next generation of Olympians!
The free swims form part of Ashington Town Council's wider summer programme, which also includes free packed lunches at Hirst Park and the Sound Futures Festival on 22 August.
Sessions take place at Ashington Leisure Centre, Lintonville Terrace, Ashington, NE63 9JY.
