Civic Head Visits First4Darts Following Town Council Grant Support
On Monday 20 July, Ashington's Civic Head, Cllr Caroline Ball, visited First4Darts to see first-hand how a £4,700 grant from Ashington Town Council is helping the organisation continue to grow and develop opportunities for the local community.
First4Darts is a community darts academy based in Ashington, welcoming players aged seven and above. The academy provides weekly coaching sessions that help young people develop their skills, confidence and sportsmanship in a positive and supportive environment. Alongside its youth sessions, the organisation is also looking to expand its offer by encouraging more adults to enjoy social darts at the venue.
The £4,700 grant will support improvements to the academy's facilities, including the installation of a fully functioning kitchen with new units and appliances, upgrades to existing equipment, and the creation of a live streaming room. These improvements will enhance the experience for members and visitors while helping First4Darts continue to grow as a welcoming community hub.
During the visit, Cllr Ball met with members, watched the academy session in action and even took to the board herself, throwing darts alongside participants and experiencing the friendly, inclusive atmosphere that First4Darts has created. The visit provided an opportunity to see the enthusiasm, talent and respect shown by players of all ages.
