Civic Head celebrates Reiverdale Scout Group's award ceremony success
Ashington's Civic Head, Cllr Caroline Ball, was delighted to attend Reiverdale Scout Group's awards ceremony on Wednesday 15 July 2026, celebrating the achievements of the Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scout sections.
The evening recognised the dedication and progress of young people across the group, who continue to be provided with #SkillsForLife through activities that deliver fun, friendship, excitement and adventure for the communities of South East Northumberland.
Reiverdale Scout Group has served the Ashington community since 1963, with its building used not only for Scouting but also for public art groups, mothering support groups, and previously as a COVID vaccination centre.
Ashington Town Council has also recently supported the Group with a grant enabling the replacement of its boiler, ensuring the building can continue to provide a safe, warm space for young people and the wider community throughout the colder months. The Group is now progressing plans to upgrade its fire alarm system following a recent health and safety review.
A spokesperson for Reiverdale Scout Group said: "Thank you for the ongoing support from Ashington Town Council for our Scout Group. It was massively appreciated. It was an honour to have Cllr Ball at the awards ceremony."
Ashington Town Council continues to support local voluntary and community organisations that provide vital opportunities for young people across the area.
