Civic Head celebrates community at Ethel House Beach Party
Ashington, 6 August 2026 – Civic Head of Ashington Town Council, Councillor Caroline Ball, joined clients, volunteers and guests at Ashington Social Care Centre on Thursday 6 August for a special beach-themed party.
The event provided an opportunity for clients and volunteers to come together for an afternoon of food, entertainment and socialising, with family and friends also invited to join the celebrations.
Ashington Social Care Centre currently supports 10 clients, with a dedicated team of five volunteers running the centre without paid staff. The centre provides regular social activities alongside a hot lunch every Thursday, helping to bring people together and provide a friendly place to meet.
Funding of £200 was used towards a buffet lunch and entertainment for the beach party, while volunteers also helped purchase tableware, decorations and fancy dress items to give the event a real seaside feel.
The beach party highlighted the important role Ashington Social Care Centre plays in providing social opportunities for local people, helping to reduce isolation and create a strong sense of community.
