New seats coming to Bothal

New seats coming to Bothal

We're giving some of the seats around Bothal an upgrade, thanks to funding from County Councillor Scott Amery through his Northumberland County Council Members Local Improvement Scheme (MLIS).

The new seats are more accessible, with armrests to make sitting down and getting up easier. They're also more durable and easier to maintain, so they'll serve the community well for years to come.

Over the coming weeks, the old seats will be removed and the ground prepared before the new ones go in. If your favourite seat disappears for a little while, please bear with us. It will be back, and better than before.

Here's what's happening:

Holy Sepulchre Church: This much-loved "Happy to Chat" bench is being replaced with a new one in the same spot. We know the paving around it has been lifted by tree roots, and we'll be raising this with Northumberland County Council.

Booths Road / First Row: This seat is moving to a better location. Its current spot is close to the road and on uneven ground, so the new seat will go on the path from High Market down to Holy Sepulchre Church, where it can be enjoyed safely and comfortably.

Ninth Row bus stop and Bothal Cottages: These seats are being upgraded. There may be a short gap while the ground is prepared.

A big thank you to Cllr Amery for supporting this, and to residents for your patience while the work is carried out. We hope you enjoy your new seats!
