Tree Planting Scheme in North Seaton

Tree Planting Scheme in North Seaton

A further tree planting scheme has been completed in Ashington.

Eight standard size trees have been planted in North Seaton to complement the existing tree provision.  Ashington Town Council has funded the scheme which has seen a mix of native trees planted including alder, beech and rowan.

Trees do much to improve our environment and are a very important factor in tackling the effects of climate change.

Over the past two years, the Town Council has taken the initiative to develop and support various tree planting initiatives throughout the town. These efforts, combined with the tree planting activities undertaken by residents and community groups, have resulted in the planting of nearly 2,000 trees within and around Ashington.

The Town Council is also working in partnership with Northumberland County Council on a further planting scheme, in the Haydon ward, which will be carried out in coming weeks.
