Action for Insects Day Four Activity

Action for Insects Day Four Activity

Welcome to day four of Ashington Town Council's Action for Insects feature.  With spring just around the corner, we committed to creating more insect-friendly spaces around town. Why? Because insects play a vital role in our local ecosystem as pollinators, decomposers, and food for wildlife. But sadly, many species are in decline.

Here's what we'll be doing to help insects thrive in Ashington:

???? Allowing wildflowers to bloom on verges and in parks

???? Planting more insect-friendly plants and trees

???? Minimizing pesticide use

???? Installing insect hotels & bee bricks for nesting

It's about small changes that add up to make a BIG difference for our local biodiversity. And we want you to join us!

Right up to the spring equinox on March 20th, we'll be sharing daily tips from @NorthumberlandWildlifeTrust on easy ways to turn your garden into an insect haven. From planting natives to avoiding chemicals, little actions can protect these amazing creatures.

Get involved by snapping pics of your insect-friendly efforts and sending them to admin@ashingtontowncouncil.gov.uk. We'll share your photos, send you FREE wildflower seeds, and feature you in an "Action for Insects" video at our upcoming ECO Fair!

Insect populations are declining at an alarming global rate. But together, we can be part of the solution right here in Ashington. Buzz buzz! ????

Today's activity from the Northumberland Wildlife Trust is planning your insect friendly vegetable garden.
