      A Family event features giant whale classroom, live music, fairground rides and parade celebrating local heritage

      Ashington Town Council is delighted to announce its Community Fair taking place on Sunday, 6th July 2025, from 11am to 4pm at People’s Park, Institute Road, Ashington. This free entry event promises to be the highlight of the summer calendar, combining family entertainment, educational activities, and a spectacular parade celebrating the town’s industrial heritage.

      What to expect:

      Live music and performances throughout the day;

      11:10 - 11:40 - Clare Drysdale - Musical Opening
      Talented Ashington vocalist Clare Drysdale kicks off our spectacular lineup of music and performances.

      12:00 - 12:40 - The Local Heros
      An energetic new trio from Newcastle brings you an exciting celebration of authentic Geordie culture and spirit.

      13:00 - 13:30 - Butterfly Dance Spectacular
      Over 60 young performers from three local dance schools come together in stunning butterfly costumes, fresh from their participation in the Powering the Future Parade, for a magical performance in front of the stage.

      13:30 - 14:15 - S.K.X Funkanauts
      Get ready for an out-of-this-world musical journey featuring cosmic sci-fi sounds and funky beats.

      14:15 - 15:00 - Ashington Sea Cadets Interactive Experience
      Join the Sea Cadets for hands-on training demonstrations and family-friendly activities that everyone can participate in and enjoy.

      15:00 - 15:45 - The Pretty Weeds
      Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to move to some fantastic tunes to close out the day’s entertainment.

      Pro Contact Wrestling Schedule:

      All Day - Wrestling Stars Meet & Greet
      Professional wrestlers will be roaming the fairgrounds throughout the day, offering photo opportunities and chances to meet your favourite stars up close.

      12:00 - 12:45 - First Wrestling Show
      Contract Professional Wrestling presents their signature high-energy sports entertainment experience! Witness three action-packed matches of fast-paced, family-friendly professional wrestling that will have you cheering and booing at the top of your lungs. Essential viewing for WWE and AEW enthusiasts!

      12:45 - 1:15 - Post-Show Meet & Greet
      Don’t miss your chance to meet the wrestlers, take photos, and get autographs immediately following the first show.

      2:30 - 3:15 - Second Wrestling Show
      The excitement continues with another thrilling 45-minute spectacle featuring three more electrifying matches. Experience the unique brand of high-octane sports entertainment that makes Contract Professional Wrestling a must-see attraction. Perfect for the whole family - bring your loudest voice!

      3:15 - 3:45 - Final Meet & Greet Session
      Cap off the wrestling experience with one last opportunity to interact with the professional wrestlers, capture memories, and celebrate the day’s incredible performances.

      Richardson’s Amusements LTD - Giant slide, bouncy castle & obstacle course, and all your fairground favourites (charges apply)

      Mortal Fools -  ”Join our drop-in animation workshop with professional animator Sheryl Jenkins.

      Central Northumberland Family Hubs - with some under the sea themed crafts and activities, playdough and a glue and stick activity.  We will be sharing information about water safety and the family hub summer offer.

      Full Circle Food Project - 

      Professional face painting with Smanatha Lynn

      Northumbria Police - Northumbria Police will be joining us at the fair with their community police vehicle, offering children the exciting opportunity to explore and learn about police work. Young visitors can try on authentic police hats and other equipment while discovering what it’s like to be part of the local police force.

      Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service - will be at the fair on 6th July, bringing their expertise and equipment to provide an exciting and educational experience for visitors of all ages.


      The 60ft Sperm Whale Experience

      A spectacular 60-foot sperm whale will be making waves at Ashington Community Fair, offering an unforgettable interactive experience for families. This impressive inflatable attraction features captivating 30-minute shows designed especially for children aged 3 to 10 years, with a maximum of 40 people per performance. The whale will host up to 6 shows throughout the day, operating on an hour-on, hour-off schedule to ensure everyone gets their chance to step inside this amazing marine giant. Young visitors will be transported into an immersive world of storytelling and music, making this a must-see attraction that combines education and entertainment in the most extraordinary way.

      All shows are 30 minutes long.  The shows are really popular so please note for more little ones to enjoy the performances only one adult per family can accompany thier child/children into the whale.
