On Saturday 6th September, Ashington came together to celebrate love, diversity, and community at the Pride Family Picnic in Hirst Park, delivered in partnership between Pride Action North and Ashington Town Council.

Running from 12 noon to 3pm, the picnic created a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ people, families, and allies to celebrate together. Despite an unexpected challenge when a car accident temporarily blocked the park entrance, the event still drew 308 attendees — with 258 people actively joining in activities and an impressive 71 young people getting involved.

This short film, created by Luk-Luk Productions, features Wansbeck Wanderers Walking Football, a thriving local group that welcomes players from age 18 right through to over 80.
