Ashington Set for Festive Celebration at Annual Light Switch-On
The holiday season will officially kick off in Ashington this week with the return of the town's anticipated Christmas Light Switch-On event on Thursday, November 30th from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.
This annual tradition brings residents of all ages together to spread holiday cheer. The festivities will launch at the Ashington YMCA where attendees can enjoy free Christmas activities leading up to the big lighting ceremony.
A highlight of the evening will be a Lantern Walk making its way up Station Road past Santa in his sleigh, ending at the town Christmas tree. There the lights will "switch on" at 6:00pm sharp.
Ashington Town Council is thrilled to announce a special musical guest performance to accompany the ceremony. Daniel James of the popular 90s pop duo Yell! will take the stage to perform his new holiday single "Silent Night O Holy Night" prior to illuminating the Christmas tree.
