CCTV Provision

The current contract for CCTV on Station Road is coming to an end and the Council is looking to update the system and enter into a new contract.

Council Principles for CCTV

Ashington Town Council aims to ensure CCTV systems remain fit for purpose and operational for the benefit of all stakeholders. The previous contract for CCTV on Station Road was agreed in 2017, the Council appreciate that technology has changed significantly. By expanding and upgrading our CCTV system, we aim to build a CCTV service that can be used in the prevention and detection of crime, to reduce the fear of crime and to improve public safety.

Contract Brief

Ashington Town Council requires a supplier to provide upgraded CCTV cameras and transmission equipment, to supply and install new equipment, and to provide maintenance services.

The successful contractor will be required to:

  1. Provide a bespoke service infrastructure particular to Station Road, Station Road West and Woodhorn Road, Ashington, that is efficient, cost effective and environmentally friendly.
  2. Ensure CCTV assets are maintained to fulfil their operational requirement, at their optimum performance and within the required legislative parameters.
  3. Commission video analytics.
  4. Relocate the public space CCTV control room to their own premises, providing 24/7 monitoring.
  5. Supply and install a business continuity control room at a remote site.

The successful contractor will be expected to advise the Council on the most appropriate equipment and most suitable camera locations.

Additionally, the contractor will be required to seek the necessary permissions from landowners for cameras on their buildings, and ensure signage is installed and maintained as required.

This is a 5-year contract for which the successful contractor will be required to invoice the Council monthly.

The aim of the tender process is to select a provider who is capable and willing to work with the Council to develop a CCTV service for Station Road, Ashington, that can be used in the prevention and detection of crime, to reduce the fear of crime and to improve public safety.
