The Town Council previously announced the very sad passing away of Councillor Lawrence Henderson. This has created a vacancy for a Councillor in Central Ward, and following Lawrence's funeral yesterday the vacancy is now officially declared.

In accordance with the Local Government Act 1972, the Council has advertised the vacancy and notified Nortumberland County Council Election Office, and 14 days is allowed for 10 electors from Central Ward to request an election to fill the vacancy. If no request is received by 5th January 2024, the vacancy will be filled by co-option within a reasonable period.
