Ashington Town Surpasses Tree Planting Goal

Ashington Town Surpasses Tree Planting Goal

Ashington Town Council originally set a target to plant 1,500 trees in 2022-2023 to combat climate change locally. Thanks to the efforts of the Town Council, community groups, organisations, and residents, the town has exceeded this goal by over 25%, planting 1,905 trees so far!

The extra 405 trees will help reduce Ashington's carbon footprint and improve air quality. The town has mapped locations where new trees have been planted, available to view here.

Ashington's tree planting initiative has clearly resonated with locals. Building on this enthusiasm, plans for future tree planting projects are already underway.

Residents who have planted trees can still have their efforts added to the town's tree map by completing the online form. Contributing to Ashington's "urban forest" is a rewarding way to take climate action and create a greener, healthier community.
