Health & Wellness Focus Week - Wansbeck Community Links

Health & Wellness Focus Week - Wansbeck Community Links

Todays blog introduces you to Wansbeck Community Links

Wansbeck Community Links are part of Cygnus Support, a local counselling charity, which has been providing a very valuable therapy service for over 30 years.

Cygnus formed a partnership with Wansbeck Primary Care Network (Seaton Park, Guidepost, Gables & Bedlington GP surgeries) and the Community Link Workers (CLWs) have been providing a full social prescribing service for their patients for nearly 3 years now.

Social prescribing offers a listening ear to those who have non clinical issues in their life which is beginning to affect their mental and sometimes even physical wellbeing. Things like bereavement, struggling with finance, unemployment, carer stress, managing a long-term health condition, and when a person may be feeling socially isolated or just ready to make some positive lifestyle changes.

The CLWs listen to the person, find out what the problem is and then offer general advice and signposting. They also have direct referral routes to services. They then link the person into the service or group that can give them the practical, emotional and social support they need to help them feel better.

Wansbeck Community Links are also very prominent in their locality and strive to build a happier, healthier, and connected community.

Please follow the link to their FB page (4) Wansbeck Community Links | Facebook to meet the team and find out what they are up to in Hirst Welfare this month.
