People and Services Come Together at Ashington Information Day

I recently attended the informative Household Information Event at Ashington Hirst Welfare Centre. With over a dozen organisations represented, there was something for everyone.

Upon entering, the aroma of fresh soup filled the air - a nice touch that encouraged lingering and learning. I spoke with engaging staff from Citizens Advice and Northumberland Communities Together about services for seniors and vulnerable residents. At the Northumberland Skills table, I discovered free courses to gain employment skills.

For fitness buffs, Cycling for All provided details about local bike groups. Health trainers offered advice tailored to individual needs. And the Northumberland libraries was on hand to sign up new members.

I was pleasantly surprised by the range of organisations working to directly benefit Ashington families. From Asda supporting Ashington Community Litter Project to Army Recruitment. There are a whole host of services available that residents may not know about. Events like this make it easy to connect with those resources.

Over a hot cup of tea, I chatted with Northumberland Recovery College and Northumberland CVA. By bringing together organisations and residents, connections form organically, helping strengthen the fabric of the community.
