The event represents a collaborative effort between numerous local organisations, each contributing their expertise and resources to create a comprehensive day of activities that cater to diverse interests and age groups.

    Looking Forward to Community Connection

The Get Active Family Fun Day and Walking Football Festival exemplifies the spirit of community engagement that makes Ashington special. By bringing together sports clubs, health organisations, local businesses, and residents, the event creates opportunities for new connections, skill development, and community pride.

Whether visitors are looking to try a new sport, learn about health and wellbeing resources, support local charities, or simply enjoy a day out with family and friends, the event at Hirst Welfare Centre promises to deliver an enriching experience for all who attend.

  • The Great Big Green Week - 11th June 2024

Ashington Town Council is taking part in The Great Big Green Week on Tuesday 11th June 2024 we will be back at Ashington Tuesday Market with lots of information, fun and games to help tackle climate change.

Ashington Town Council will be there to find out your thoughts on Climate Change, to talk to you about the Council’s Climate Change actions, via our Climate Change Committee, and with some energy saving hints and tips and back for a third year our popular free raffle.

    Joining us on the day will be;

    Groundwork North East
Environmental charity Groundwork North East and Cumbria are working alongside Northumberland County Council to spread information and awareness about the correct way to recycle and dispose of household waste. Our stall aims to help clarify what does and what doesn’t go in the household recycling bin and places where items can be taken if not. We have resources for residents that further illustrates how to correctly dispose of rubbish and recycling.

    Climate Action Wansbeck
Will be offering free plants and seeds, encouraging us to all ‘grow our own’

    NCC Climate Change Team
The Climate Change Team at NCC will be talking about our work towards our climate targets, along with a new soon to be approved action plan covering the main key themes of emissions, environment and society.

    NCC Warmer Homes Team
We are the Community Retrofit Advisors as part of the Warmer Homes Team within Northumberland County Councils Climate Change division. As dedicated Energy Advisors we strive to make local communities aware of any available home energy improvement schemes and grants that they may be eligible for within Northumberland.

We would like to attend to raise awareness of the Warmer Homes Scheme, where eligible households can receive help to keep warm, become more energy efficient and reduce their carbon footprint through the installation of:

    • Insulation for walls, lofts, and floors.
    • Ventilation to increase air flow within the property and reduce damp and mould
    • Renewable energy generation, such as solar panels.

    Northumberland Citizens Advice
Will be offering residents energy saving advice and information on how to save money.
