Ashington Town Council has announced the launch of the town’s first-ever ECO Fair, scheduled for Friday 25th April from 10am to 3pm at the Ashington Hirst Welfare Centre.

Civic Head Councillor Caroline Ball attended the Ashington Sea Cadets’ awards evening on Friday, 4th April 2025, where she presented an annual grant on behalf of Ashington Town Council. The funding will support the valuable work of this local youth organisation.

Applications are now open for the 14th annual LOVE Northumberland Awards – the prestigious celebration honoring outstanding community environmental work across the county.

The City Nature Challenge is an exciting global competition where people around the world compete to record the most wildlife species over one weekend. From Friday, April 25th to Monday, April 28th, 2025, communities will work together to document local biodiversity by logging sightings on the iNaturalist platform.

Spring has arrived and Ashington’s looking lovely – with daffodils and crocuses popping up, flower towers full of colour, and Hirst Park fresh and bright. We are seeking suitably qualified and experienced contractors to provide high-quality, energy-efficient lighting solutions. The scope includes the integration of bespoke motifs, annual installation and removal, maintenance, storage, and emergency response services.

The tender closes on 28th March 2025, and shortlisted candidates will be invited for presentations on 1st April 2025.

Ashington Town Council representatives visited local community radio station Koast Radio yesterday to view their newly installed broadcasting desk, which was funded through the council’s Annual Grant Fund.

Following a review of nominations for the Hirst Ward, NCC Elections have confirmed that one candidate is no longer nominated due to being nominated in multiple wards within the same Parish.

As a result, the remaining three candidates have been elected uncontested to Ashington Town Council’s Hirst Ward:

This means there will be no poll for the Hirst Ward, and electors in the Hirst Ward will not be required to vote for their Town Council representatives. Please note there is still an an election for the County Councillor to represent the Hirst Ward.
