Kerb Appeal Trial Update: Haydon Ward Following the launch of our Kerb Appeal Trial with Northumberland County Council on 1st December 2025, we can confirm that Haydon ward will be the first area included in the trial.
Streets included in this phase of the trial are Haydon Road and Hartford Crescent. Properties in these streets have already received letter drops with full details of what to expect during the trial period.
Ashington Town Council has responsibility for all matters relating to the provision of litter bins. Northumberland County Council remain responsible for emptying bins across the town.
The Town Council has a programme of replacing ageing litter bins which are beyond repair, as well as providing new litter bins at new locations. We are aware that we are at capacity with litter bins in Ashington, and we are looking at litter bin use more strategically. Often a litter bin is not the answer and behavioural changes need to be encouraged.
Replacement litter bins will be considered in order of priority over the coming years. New litter bin requests will be received and considered in consultation with Northumberland Council.
