Ashington Town Council welcomes the continued progress on our town centre transformation, as detailed in the recent announcement from Northumberland County Council.
We’re delighted that the Portland Park cinema and restaurant development is moving forward this autumn, bringing REEL Cinemas’ exciting leisure offer to our community. The completion of public realm improvements around Lintonville Terrace and the new Memorial Garden will also enhance our town centre experience.

Ashington Town Council is pleased to report on the positive impact of its upgraded CCTV surveillance system, which has shown encouraging progress in supporting crime prevention and community safety efforts since our new system was installed in April 2024.
The Council’s investment in Asset Watch’s advanced CCTV service is proving instrumental in supporting law enforcement and protecting residents across the town centre and play areas. The upgraded system represents a key priority for the Council in its commitment to providing a safe and pleasant environment for all residents.
