Ashington Town Council is pleased to announce that the third round of its Small Grants Fund will open for applications on Wednesday 7 October 2026.

We’re giving some of the seats around Bothal an upgrade, thanks to funding from County Councillor Scott Amery through his Northumberland County Council Members Local Improvement Scheme (MLIS).

Ashington Town Council has received a clean result from its external audit for the year ended 31st March 2026. The external auditor, Forvis Mazars LLP, completed its review of the Council’s Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) and raised no matters, minor or otherwise.

Ashington Town Council’s Civic Head, Cllr Caroline Ball, was delighted to attend the Harvest Thanksgiving Service at Trinity Church (Methodist / United Reformed) on Sunday 20th September.

Ashington’s first-ever junior parkrun will burst into life on Sunday 4th October at Hirst Welfare Centre — and every child, family and cheerleader in the town is invited.

Ashington Town Council has approved £2,760 from their youth budget to help Wansbeck Community Links establish a daily base within Ashington YMCA, supporting some of the town’s most vulnerable young people.

We want to take this opportunity to commend two brilliant local teams. Our fabulous library service, and the amazing NCC customer services staff who currently work from the ground floor of the Town Hall on Station Road. Ashington has always been fortunate to have a face-to-face NCC customer services presence in the town, delivering great advice and support to residents.

The Statement of Persons Nominated has been published for the by-election of a County Councillor for the Hirst division of Northumberland County Council, which takes place on Thursday 1st October 2026.

Northumberland College has partnered with Bernicia Homes and Dukes Secondary School to launch a new academy which will give young people aged 14-16 the opportunity to develop technical skills while studying for a vocational qualification.

The employer-led Construction Academy will bring education and industry closer together, helping students from Duke’s gain industry experience, build confidence and explore careers in one of the region’s fastest-growing sectors.
