Ashington Town Council has paid warm tribute to the Safer Communities Officers (SCOs) who have served the town under Project Shield over the past year — while expressing deep frustration that the funding which made their vital work possible is ending on 31st March 2026.
Ashington Town Council has responsibility for all matters relating to the provision of public seating in the town.
The Town Council's Neighbourhood Services Officer regularly inspects our public seats and carries out repairs and maintenance.
The Town Council has a programme of replacing ageing public seating which is beyond repair as well as providing new seats at new locations.
Requests for new or replacement seats being met in order of priority.
Please note public seating at the Town's strategic parks is provided by Northumberland County Council.
