Spring has arrived and Ashington’s looking lovely – with daffodils and crocuses popping up, flower towers full of colour, and Hirst Park fresh and bright. Our town’s gateways and entrances have been freshly tended too, and they’re looking fab – a great welcome for anyone coming in. We’ve even got sustainable planting making Station Road shine.

We are seeking suitably qualified and experienced contractors to provide high-quality, energy-efficient lighting solutions. The scope includes the integration of bespoke motifs, annual installation and removal, maintenance, storage, and emergency response services.
The tender closes on 28th March 2025, and shortlisted candidates will be invited for presentations on 1st April 2025.

Ashington Town Council representatives visited local community radio station Koast Radio yesterday to view their newly installed broadcasting desk, which was funded through the council’s Annual Grant Fund.

Following a review of nominations for the Hirst Ward, NCC Elections have confirmed that one candidate is no longer nominated due to being nominated in multiple wards within the same Parish.
As a result, the remaining three candidates have been elected uncontested to Ashington Town Council’s Hirst Ward:
John Victor Allen Victor George Bridges Pauline Thompson
This means there will be no poll for the Hirst Ward, and electors in the Hirst Ward will not be required to vote for their Town Council representatives. Please note there is still an an election for the County Councillor to represent the Hirst Ward.

Northumberland County Council has today announced the candidates standing in the upcoming County and Town Council elections, set to take place on Thursday 1st May 2025.
Following the close of nominations on Wednesday 2nd April, the Returning Officer has confirmed that Ashington Town Council will have contested elections across all wards.
