Ashington Friday, 15th August 2025 - Ashington gathered to mark the 80th Anniversary of Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day) – the day that finally brought the Second World War to an end.

It is with great sadness that Ashington Town Council announces the passing of Councillor Victor Bridges on Friday 1st August 2025.

Please be advised that the Union Flag is not currently being flown in the Memorial Garden in accordance with established practice. The flag has historically only been displayed on specific commemorative occasions, or special events.

At the Finance and General Services Committee meeting on the 8th July 2025, the Council has reported a very successful month with events, engagement and infrastructure updates.

Ashington Town Council is pleased to report on the positive impact of its upgraded CCTV surveillance system, which has shown encouraging progress in supporting crime prevention and community safety efforts since our new system was installed in April 2024.

The Council’s investment in Asset Watch’s advanced CCTV service is proving instrumental in supporting law enforcement and protecting residents across the town centre and play areas. The upgraded system represents a key priority for the Council in its commitment to providing a safe and pleasant environment for all residents.
