Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal

Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal

The Salvation Army has launched its annual Christmas Present Appeal in a bid to ensure more than 200 local children receive a present on Christmas Day.

For many years, Ashington and Newbiggin by the Sea Salvation Army Corps have teamed up with local social services to ensure toys are provided to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the Ashington and surrounding area.

With Covid-19 the appeal will be a little different this year. However, if anyone would like to donate a new unwrapped toy to the appeal, you can do so by;

  • dropping off toys at the Salvation Army’s Charity Shop on Station Road (NE63 9UJ).
  • The Salvation Army Worship Hall, on Front Street, in Newbiggin by the Sea will also be open from 10.30am till 11.30am on Saturday 11 December, again to accept any gifts. A brass ensemble will also provide some Christmas carols and refreshments will be provided.

Major Stephen Slade said ‘We want to make sure every child in our area has the joy of opening a gift at Christmas. It is not just the gift that makes a difference but also knowing that someone cares.'
