Christmas Cheer Captured at Ashington’s Christmas Light Switch-On
Hundreds gathered on Thursday 30th November for Ashington’s annual lighting event that sparked the festive spirit across the town. Check out the video below for a recap of the Switch-On Event.
The video captures the anticipation building up to the ceremony's main event at 6:00pm when pop singer Daniel James flipped the switch to illuminate the town Christmas tree and Station Road displays.
Before that, families enjoyed activities like lantern making and a Lantern Walk up Station Road behind a procession of homemade creations. The walk ended at the site of the Christmas tree, where James stirred excitement with a performance of "Silent Night 'O' Holy Night" leading up to the illumination.
The clip also shows crowds gathered for the Switch-On and families taking part in the Christmas activities at Ashington YMCA, with the Christmas spirit continuing to spread throughout the evening.
