Northumberland Wildlife Trust

Northumberland Wildlife Trust is encouraging young people to make the most of being off school this half term by getting wild and arty… both indoors and outdoors.

https://www.nwt.org.uk/news/go-wild-and-arty-half-term

On Wednesday 21st February from 10:00am onwards, the wildlife charity will be hosting three marine art sessions where everybody can learn more about the region’s amazing marine work via a variety of awesome arts and crafts to take home with them. And better still, they’re free!

Also, following on from the success of her previous online sessions, Trust Education Officer Alex Reynolds will be hosting two nature craft tutorials which will be available on the Trust’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The sessions on Tuesday 20th and Thursday 22nd February, available from 2:00pm onwards, will show everybody how to make frogs, rabbits, and sheep from simple household items that all too often end up in the bin.

Alex Reynolds, Northumberland Wildlife Trust Education Officer says:

“Half term can be a challenging time for many families keeping children entertained whilst at the same time, trying not to spend too much money.

“If you can’t make it to the Hauxley marine art sessions - worry not, as children of all ages can get crafty with me and make something to take back to school show their classmates and teachers after half term.”

Visit Northumberland Wildlife Trust for more information here.

Woodhorn Museum - The Pop Up Hut will be open between 12noon and 3pm.

Starting Saturday 17th February to Sunday 25th February.

This is your chance to get creative!

Our Pop-Up Ashington Group Hut, designed by visual artist Imogen Cloët, is inspired by the hut in which the Ashington Group met to make and talk about their artworks.

Our pop-up hut will open its doors daily during the Northumberland school holidays, offering a programme of family-friendly art activities for everyone to enjoy. Come along and have a go at activities inspired by the story, materials and methods of the Pitmen Painters.

In February half term you can make a colourful mini allotment and fill it with your choice of birds, flowers and prize winning veg using paper collage techniques. This activity is inspired by the painting Pigeon Crees by Jimmy Floyd.

Included with Annual Pass admission and no need to pre-book. Suggested donation £1
