In Memory of Councillor Vicki Brown

In Memory of Councillor Vicki Brown

With sadness we share news of the passing of Councillor Vicki Brown on Tuesday 27th February 2024.

Most recently elected in 2021, Vicki served as Councillor for the College Ward, having served previously as a Councillor for the Seaton Ward where she lived for many years. She was dedicated to the community, eager to contribute through working groups and attending town events, come rain or shine.

Vicki served alongside husband Louis. Louis recounted with a smile that often he would ask Vicki why she hadn’t mentioned something in a meeting that she had said she would, and her reply was “You said more than enough for both of us.”

Louis remembered how delighted Vicki was to visit Germany in September 2023, only months before she became unwell.

In May 2023, Vicki was elected Deputy Civic Head and enjoyed representing the Council during the town twinning trip to Remscheid. She was a longtime, valued member and supporter of the Town Twinning Association prior to becoming a Councillor. As well as taking the civic responsibilities of the visit seriously, she enjoyed every element of the weekend immensely as the Council’s representative.

Above all, Vicki was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her loving family was her greatest pride and joy. While we will miss Vicki's presence, we are mindful that this is a very difficult time for her family, especially her beloved husband Louis who stood by her side, as husband and fellow Cllr. Between them Louis and Vicki have 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren and Vicki’s love and memory will live on in them.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to Louis and all who held Vicki dear. May precious memories carry them through this sorrowful time.

The Town Council will honour Vicki’s contributions in ways respectful of the family's need for privacy. Vicki will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
