ASHINGTON TOWN COUNCIL - RESULT OF POLL - CENTRAL WARD

It has been declared by the Deputy Returning Officer for Northumberland County Council, that Paul Richard Wright was duly elected to the post of Councillor for the Central Ward of Ashington Town Council, following an election that took place on 7th March 2024.

Votes Cast and Counted

Andrew Rupert McGregor - Liberal Democrats Candidate - 51

Elaine Peverley – Independent Candidate – 121

Paul Richard Wright - Labour Candidate - 362 (Elected)

While there can only be one winner, all candidates should feel proud that they stepped up for their community and gave voters a voice in the democratic process; it is courageous and shows commitment to the town.

Whether your preferred candidate was victorious or not, all Ashington voters can feel good knowing they did their civic duty by making their voices heard at the ballot box. Your votes will help shape the future direction of our town.

We congratulate Paul and wish him well as he takes on this new role in service to Ashington. For Paul the first order of business will be signing the official Declaration of Acceptance of Office. Ashington Town Council looks forward to welcoming our newest elected member at the next meeting.
