Ashington Town Council Elects New Leadership for Climate Change and Environment Committee

In a recent meeting held on 30th July, 2024, Ashington Town Council has announced changes to the leadership of its Climate Change and Environment Committee. Councillor Paul Wright has been elected as the new Chair, taking the helm of this crucial committee.

In his new role, Councillor Wright will spearhead the committee's efforts across several key environmental priorities. These include fostering engagement and partnerships, promoting biodiversity, reducing emissions, advancing renewable energy initiatives, implementing carbon sequestration strategies, and improving waste management and recycling practices.

The council has also re-elected Councillor Pauline Thompson as Vice Chair. She will continue to play a vital role in supporting Councillor Wright and contributing to the committee's important work.

The committee members took the opportunity to express their gratitude to outgoing Chair, Councillor Sophie Robinson, acknowledging her dedicated service and accomplishments during her tenure.
