Inaugural Youth Forum Sparks Dialogue with Ashington Town Council
On Wednesday 16th October, the recently established Youth Advisory Committee hosted a successful Youth Forum, providing a platform for young people to engage directly with local Councillors on Ashington Town Council.
The newly formed Youth Advisory Committee, chaired by Councillor Caroline Ball, includes Councillors Graeme Wright, Lynne Grimshaw, Matthew Cuthbert, and Louis Brown, however all Councillors are keen to engage with young people in local democracy.
The Youth Advisory Committee plans to use feedback from young people to inform future decisions and initiatives aimed at better serving the young population in the area. The Council want to keep the lines of communication open, host similar events, and also go to where young people are and speak with them directly.
The committee extends its thanks to Ashington Community Football Club for providing the venue, Christine and Caroline from Crossroad Cafe for the delicious street food, and a special acknowledgment to the Northumberland Policing Team for their invaluable support in sharing and supporting the event.
This successful Youth Forum marks a promising start for the newly formed Youth Advisory Committee, setting a positive tone for future collaborations between local government, community partners, and the younger generation.
