Northumberland Line Thanks Ashington!

Northumberland Line officially open its first station in Ashington on Sunday, December 15th 2024, offering local residents a convenient new transportation option. The new rail service promises affordable fares, adults will start at £1.60 for an off peak single between Ashington and Seaton Delaval or £2.60 from Ashington to Newcastle. The peak time fares from Ashington will be £1.90 to Seaton Delaval or £3 to Newcastle.

Passengers can expect modern amenities, including fully accessible trains with Wi-Fi, USB charging points, and onboard toilets. The service will run twice hourly on weekdays and Saturdays, with a direct route to Newcastle Central Station taking approximately 35 minutes.

The Ashington station features 270 parking spaces, including 17 accessible spots, with free parking guaranteed for the first year. Cyclists will also find secure bike storage facilities at the station.

Future plans include expanding the line to additional stations, including Newsham, Northumberland Park, Blyth Bebside, and Bedlington, though exact opening dates are yet to be confirmed.
