ASHINGTON TOWN COUNCIL AWARDS £5,000 GRANT TO HIRST WELFARE CENTRE

Ashington Town Council has awarded a significant grant of £5,000 to the Hirst Welfare Centre as part of its annual grant funding programme, supporting vital improvements to this key community facility.
The grant has enabled the Centre to enhance its café area, creating a more welcoming environment for local residents. This development comes at a crucial time, following the Centre's successful transition back to Charity status in April.
Civic Head of Ashington, Councillor Caroline Ball, who recently visited the Centre to see the improvements firsthand, commented: "The Hirst Welfare Centre plays an essential role in our community, and we're delighted to support their continued development through our grant funding programme. The improvements to the café area will benefit countless residents who use this valuable facility."
Brian Shotton, Centre Manager at Hirst Welfare, welcomed the funding: "This generous contribution from Ashington Town Council has allowed us to make significant improvements to our facilities. The enhanced café area is already proving popular with our users, and we're grateful for the Council's support as we continue to develop our services for the local community."
The grant is part of Ashington Town Council's commitment to supporting local organisations that provide vital services to residents. The annual grant funding programme demonstrates the Council's ongoing dedication to strengthening community facilities and enhancing services across Ashington.
