Cycling 4 Everyone Launches the Northumberland Cycling Campaign

Cycling 4 Everyone is thrilled to announce the launch of the Northumberland Cycling Campaign, a new initiative dedicated to advocating for safer cycling conditions and better cycling infrastructure across the county. This campaign works to engage with the County Council and the North East Combined Authority (NECA), promote cycling activities, and build a strong community of cyclists in Northumberland.

Help Us Grow the Campaign

We’re calling on cycling enthusiasts, residents, businesses, and community organisations to join us in growing this movement. Attached are A4 and Instagram posters—please share them on social media, print and display them, or pass them along to anyone interested in cycling or sustainability. By building a strong membership base, we can amplify our collective voice—every member counts!

Take Action: NECA Transport Consultation

As part of their campaign, they're focusing on NECA’s Local Transport Plan Consultation, open until 26 January 2025. With most responses expected to focus on roads, they aim to make the case for safer cycling. Removing barriers to cycling can lead to reduced carbon emissions, improved air quality, lower congestion, and better public health outcomes.

Here’s how you can contribute:

  1. Complete NECA’s Survey

  2. Share Your Thoughts Directly

    • Call NECA: 0191 277 7010
    • Email: haveyoursay@northeast-ca.gov.uk
    • Write to: North East Combined Authority, The Lumen, St James' Boulevard, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 5BZ
  3. Attend the Hexham Consultation Event

    • Join them at Hexham Town Centre/Farmers Market on Saturday 25th January, 9:30 – 12:30.
  4. Contribute to Our Collective Response

    • Send them your ideas by Monday 20th January to help shape a collaborative written response outlining the changes they want to see.

The Northumberland Cycling Campaign is run by passionate volunteers who are dedicated to making a difference. If you’re interested in contributing your time and skills, please consider joining their organising group. Their next online meeting will be held on Friday 10th January at 10:30 am.
