Spectacular Light Nights Set to Illuminate Ashington This January
Ashington is preparing to welcome an extraordinary evening of illuminated entertainment as the "Light Nights" spectacular comes to town on the 29th and 30th January 2025. The event, part of the Animating Ashington programme, will feature world-renowned Walk the Plank and Spark! in two magical processions combining illuminated drumming with stunning special effects.
The first procession will take place on Wednesday 29th January, transforming Station Road from 3:30pm to 4:10pm. The following evening, Thursday, 30th January, will see the spectacular move to the Hirst Welfare Centre from 7:00pm to 8:00pm where live music, fire drawing, fire performing and pyrotechnics will be added to create a breathtaking outdoor experience. So wrap up warm and bring all the family along to enjoy the fun.
In addition to the main performances, we're excited to announce that a special drumming workshop will be held at the Hirst Welfare Centre at 5.30pm. This unique opportunity will allow local residents to learn from skilled performers and experience the magic of percussion firsthand. Full details of the workshop will be announced soon, so keep watching this space for more information about how to participate.
The free event promises to be a visual feast, featuring performers in striking illuminated blue costumes creating an unforgettable display of light, sound, and movement. Spectators can expect to see remarkable choreographed performances complete with dramatic pyrotechnic effects and innovative lighting designs.
This spectacular event is made possible through funding from the UK Government and North East Combined Authority, with support from Northumberland County Council and Ashington Town Council.
